Explore Freycinet & The Bay of Fires

Arrive in Hobart where you'll collect your hire car from the airport before checking in at The Old Woolstore Hotel full of character and conveiently located on the waterfront near Salamanca Place, perfect for spending the afternoon exploring the city.

Start today with a visit to Mount Wellington for panoramic view over Hobart and the Derwent River. This afternoon perhaps explore Battery Point or take a drive to see the historic bridge in Richmond.

After breakfast, begin your journey to Freycinet National Park stopping in Ross to see the historic village and sandstone bridge. Continue through coastal countryside before arriving at Freycinet Lodge surrounded by native bushland, wildlife and coastal scenery. Spend the afternoon relaxing or taking a short walk around Coles Bay. Enjoy dinner at the lodge surrounded by bushland and wildlife.

This morning, experience a cruise along the spectacular coastline of Freycinet National Park from Coles Bay to Wineglass Bay. Lookout for various hidden sea caves, and waterfalls amongst the sheer granite cliffs and search for abundant wildlife, including seals, dolphins, migrating whales and seabirds. This afternoon visit Cape Tourville Lighthouse, Honeymoon Bay or hike to the Wineglass Bay lookout. Return to the lodge for a relaxed evening. 

Depart Freycinet and stop in the town of Bicheno for coastal views and a coffee break. Continue to St Helens and check into Panorama Hotel, perched on a hill overlooking Georges Bay. Spend the afternoon exploring the Bay of Fires including The Gardens and Cosy Corner, known for white sand and bright orange lichen‑covered rocks.

Today, travel inland to Launceston through forested and rural landscapes. On the way make a stop at Bridestowe Lavender Estate with December and January the best time to see the lavender in bloom, however there is beauty to be found all year round. Arrive in Launceston and check into the Hotel Grand Chancellor before spending the afternoon exploring Cataract Gorge. 

Your East Coast adventure ends this morning after dropping off your hire car at Launceston Airport.
